About Alpha Phi Chi:

Alpha Phi Chi is an all-male service club at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. The club is based on the principle of serving and loving God by serving and loving others. We will be an organization dedicated to the ideas of service, wisdom and brotherhood. The purpose of Alpha Phi Chi is to serve God by serving others, to spiritually grow as a brotherhood, and to form Godly lifelong bonds of fraternity. The members of Alpha Phi Chi will be accountable to one another about matters concerning spiritual growth, personal struggles, and all other matters that could be weighing on our hearts.

Mission Statement:

Alpha Phi Chi is dedicated to serving and loving God by serving and loving others, to spiritually grow as a brotherhood, and to form Godly lifelong bonds of fraternity.

Guidelines:

We are the only completely male service club on campus. We made the decision to be an all-male club for several reasons. When guys and girls get together, it can sometimes be counterproductive. It is far too easy to become distracted and lose focus on our ministry. Although we often have social events and sometimes serve with our sister club Pi Kappa Sigma; as a club, Alpha Phi Chi will be males only.

All-inclusive:

Alpha Phi Chi is all-inclusive, no strings attached. Any guy who would like to be a part of our service club is a part of our club once he has completed the general service requirements. Each new member will go through a one week orientation period and he will then be officially inducted into the club (more details in the section directly below). Every male at Lipscomb University is welcome to join.

New Member Orientation:

This is often confused as pledging. Although it could be technically called that, we have changed the name to avoid any of the negative connotations. We have a no-hazing policy. New Member Orientation is completely voluntary and is a lot of fun. We pride ourselves on coming up with creative ways to introduce our new members to one another and the rest of the club. The week is stress-free. We have daily devotionals and one-on-one prayer time. In short, the week is designed to introduce our new members to Alpha Phi Chi in a completely non-threatening way.

Dues:

$35 per semester for current members
$40 first semester to become a new member

(57% of money goes to service activities, 29% goes to social activities, 14% goes to miscellaneous activities)

Beginnings:

During the spring of 2000, seven guys came together and decided that they wanted to start an all-male service club. In January 2001, Alpha Phi Chi (AΦX) was born. Since then, we have grown from eight members to many more.
